THE VISIBLE TYPEFACE
Conformity Grotesk is a reinterpretation of the font Akzidenz-Grotesk to create a new font that embodies the experiences immigrants go through when expected to assimilate into their new country; loss of identity, the pressure to conform, and being reduced to a stereotype. Especially if you’re a person of color, or belong to a minority.
This started with a curiosity about what would happen if you gave a font created with the ethos to be invisible a reason to be visible. The result, Conformity Grotesk, speaks the hardships that come with a new home and celebrates the resilience in the immigrant experience.
