Do you even prompt?
Brand design / Art direction / AI photography
We’ve all seen our fair share of terrible AI images. Eyes? Dead. Hands? Eleven fingers. The tells aren’t that overt, you just know. But with the right prompts, references, and consistent framework, AI can absolutely create realistic images that save time and money.
It all started, like most things do, with a problem. After a long photoshoot, our team ended up with 40 documentary photos that worked well until they didn’t. We needed more variation in both poses and expressions but we didn’t have the budget or the deadline for a reshoot, so we turned to the internet for help.

The process included gathering references for moodboards to create common baseline, defining key words for environments, hair, clothing, and lighting, and testing different tools like Nano Banana Pro, Flux, and Midjourney. Through some good old fashioned trial and error, we ended up with a system that met our requirements for both quality and quantity. Now we have an ever-growing photo bank of images that anyone in our department can pull from for their individual projects.
